The Morning I Didn't Wake Up - (A psychological horror suspense short story)
Brief Review:
The protagonist is sleeping and is having a weird dream. In her dream, she wakes up and enters her kitchen, the air appears to be thick and heavy; everything just seems to be unnatural. The place has a weird foul smell, even her pet is acting differently that day. The coffee that usually wakes her up is of no use today, as it too has a bad smell and the coffee doesn’t taste right.
Amidst the confusion, the climate, her house, the walls are feeling so different and weird, her childhood memory flashes right in front of her to haunt her. Her parents used to fight and argue over little inconsequential things. That memory along with a recent accident makes everything even more worse. To who did this accident happens, what happens to her then, does she wake up from her dream, or was it not a dream at all? Read the entire short story to find out.
Recommendations:
It is a well written psychological horror short story. The author has touched the hearts of the readers by her unique writing style. The author leaves a major social issue as a hint that the children of parents with an abusive relationship suffer a lot. The effect it had on the protagonist's mind is beautifully brought to the readers in this story. Anyone can definitely experiment and try reading this short story. It hardly takes 30 minutes to read. I would give it a 4/5 rating.
