Adenine & Thymine
Our first meet:
I did my PG at Thanjavur and being a resident of Chennai I stayed in the college hostel. There are two fundamental things we have to be aware of while staying at the hostel, 1. The mess food is a nightmare and 2. You get to have many friends from various departments. I obviously loved the 2nd part. After about one and half a week, adapted to the routine; we went to class. All the way from hostel to the classroom we would complain about certain professors, papers and who on earth could possibly eat that mess food. We did of course, as we were out of options. After the morning class, we went to the mess to have our lunch. A girl in the next table completed her meal, stood and asked something to my friend. Later I inquired who and from which department she was. To my surprise, she told that she is our classmate and her name is Sandhiya. How come I didn't know about her after being in the same class for more than a week? I found the answer later, she is such a quiet person in general and never initiates a conversation by herself. But if she gets to know you and become friends with you, she is the funniest, naughtiest, craziest, loving and adorable human being to be around. To me, she is always a warm, cozy, lovely teddy bear.
Our first conversation:
Another week passed by and I met her at the computer science block waiting behind me for the Wi-Fi registration on the laptop. Yeah, you have to register your laptop with Wi-Fi to access the facility and those people who do that will always be busy. They asked us to come by evening and so we left. Our first conversation was
Me: Hi! Sandhiya right?
She: Yes
Me: Are you free in the evening or do you have to register tomorrow? (Cause we have classes till 5 pm.)
She: I have class but yet I have to register it today as my assignment is due in two days.
Me: Cool then, we can come during the evening break.
She agreed and went to class.
After the professor left the class, I started talking with other friends and searched for her to go for registration. She was nowhere to be found in the class. So I went alone and I saw her waiting in line. I asked why she didn't call me and her reply was again quite unforeseen. She told me that as I was speaking with other friends and not to disturb me she came alone.
It was later after registration while we went back to class together we came to know about each other and to my surprise, she was also from Chennai. Note that I have mentioned only 'to my surprise' as it was not a surprise for her. She actually remembered me and noted me during our introductory session itself and that I have said I am from Chennai. Only I didn't know that she was my classmate.
The wavelength:
Months passed and we became very close and understood each other like sisters. We were very naughty together and she changed her place near me in the classroom. Yeah, we are last bench students, a combination of both attentive and naughty students in the class. To our surprise, we found that we were alike in many of our thoughts, tastes and we shared a very good wavelength within only months of becoming friends. A batch of girls from the middle row where Sandhiya used to sit before will pass comments whenever possible. They couldn't believe that a girl who sat with them for two weeks and didn't speak much is now only talking and making fun of others and have become the naughtiest in the class. I would reply to their comment saying; a person becomes their true self around people whom they love. They used to call us Adenine and Thymine as like those two nucleic acids we both were always together. It's been more than 4 years and every time I think about our college life, a drop of tear is near my eyes and smile in lips always. My college life would have been incomplete and even hell without my Sandy dearest. That's how I call her. Counting our blessings and celebrated our 4th year friendship anniversary and many more years to come. I thank the Lord for adding color to my life by giving her to me.
True. Glad we found eachother ❤️
Life would surely be hell otherwise ❤
