5 Simple and Effective Morning Rituals
Almost every successful person has a set of morning habits that they follow religiously. I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks, but I do fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times. -Bruce Lee. Another quote that I like is “Practice makes a man perfect”. Well as human beings being perfect as a whole is not something I believe in. But we do have to aim to be perfect and try to be better than whom we were yesterday. That mindset alone plays a big role in helping us achieve our goals. Well to do all that and to live our dream life, we need to be having certain habits which will suit us and our needs. We must make sure to practice them daily to attain/near perfection. So, here I have listed out 5 simple yet effective morning rituals that will suit most people in making their life’s a better one.
Let’s Get Started.
1. Waking up an hour early than you usually do
You may wonder why I have mentioned waking up an hour early and not waking up daily at 5 am. Well slow and steady wins the race. Many of us are not able to achieve our resolutions and habits because we set high targets for ourselves at the beginning. Remember we need to get used to all the new habits and our mind and body should be acclimatized accordingly. It’s difficult for a person who usually wakes up by 8 am to suddenly wake up by 5 am.
But waking up an hour early will really not hurt us and it is also achievable while a person starts a new habit. Also by waking up an hour early we will be ahead of many people. We can also do many things at that time and be productive throughout the day instead of rushing things.
2. Enjoying your Morning Drink Peacefully
In this busy world, most of us don’t even have time to enjoy our meals and drinks. Even while having our morning drink we tend to be busy doing something, planning for the day, or preparing meals. It is very important for us to recognize this and take action immediately. Nothing is worth our peace and mental well-being.
Try acknowledging this and take time for yourself even if it is 10 minutes. Mornings can be peaceful and the best time to do this. Take your cup of coffee and have it on a terrace or balcony or just in our comfy corner at home. Just see the sky, plants, and birds or just gaze the wall, relax and enjoy that 10 minutes of your time.
3. Meditating for at least 10 minutes
“Meditation is like a gym in which you develop the powerful mental muscles of calm and insight.”– Ajahn Brahm. Just like physical health, mental health is also equally important and we often tend to ignore it. Meditation will help us remain serene in the long run. We can be more focused, relaxed, and efficient in our work if we meditate on a regular basis.
We don’t have to meditate for an hour or 30 minutes daily. Just 10 minutes will do. Morning meditation will improve your mood and you can focus a lot on your work. While meditating at night will help to relieve the stress and calm you down. One can get good undisturbed sleep after meditating. Follow it at your comfortable time. If you can spare 20 minutes from your day for your mental health then meditate both in morning and night.
4. Reading 10 pages from any Book
“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn. I can’t stress enough about the benefits of cultivating reading habits. One can never be old to start reading and never know enough to stop reading. If you wish to excel in your field or willing to communicate well or even if it is just for entertainment; develop reading habits.
Reading an entire book for beginners may be difficult and also completing an entire book in one sitting will be tough as we all have busy schedules. Eventually many will stop this habit. One need not read many pages in a day to gain knowledge. Just start reading by 5 or 10 pages per day and you will be surprised by the result and benefits of reading. Soon you will see yourself reading many books.
5. Planning your Day by Writing To-Do Lists
We all have many tasks to do in a single day and as humans, we can’t remember every single one of them. Eventually, we tend to forget something and feel distraught about ourselves. I have been there and I know exactly how you might be feeling.
Well here is a solution for you.
Try having a small notepad or any mobile apps to list down all the things you have to do today both personally and professionally. Note it down according to your time slot. Check your list every two hours just to be sure you’re on track and not have forgotten anything. Strikeout the tasks you have completed successfully. At the end of the day analyze and prepare your tomorrow’s to-do lists.
Now you know the simple habits to follow to be more efficient in your life. Try making a schedule for them and start following them religiously. If you find it difficult to inculcate all these habits at one go, no pressure, follow them one by one at your own pace. But make sure to follow and stick to that one habit you choose. A study states that it takes an average of 21 days for your practice to become a habit. So, hang in there tightly for the first 21 days, and then it will easily become your part of the day and your life.
I hope this article was helpful enough for you to get started with at least one habit from the list. Thank you for your time. Let me know what you think about the article in the comments section down.
